Michael Mikulka's "22 Degrees Distant" and "Are They Ill-Tempered?" chosen for Vox Novus' "15 Minutes of Fame" series

Michael Mikulka's "22 Degrees Distant" (for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano) was premiered in New York City by the Parhelion Trio this June. A few weeks later, "Are They Ill-Tempered?" (for unaccompanied horn) was premiered (also in New York City) by hornist Peter Reit. Both of these performances came about through Vox Novus "15 Minutes of Fame" contests, in which composers write pieces of 60 seconds or less for a specific performer or ensemble. 15 compositions are chosen for each concert, and there were 67 and 78 entrants respectively for each competition.
