Biography

Marshall Bessières is a composer and music educator based in Austin, TX. His works have been performed by ensembles and soloists including Firebird Ensemble, Choral Chameleon, Hexnut, Wet Ink Ensemble, Clogs, Aeros Wind Quintet, the Santa Clara University Chamber Singers, and Jennifer Martin, among others. He has been on the faculty of Walden’s Young Musicians Program since 2003 and the Teacher Training Institute since 2009. In 2011 he joined the inaugural faculty of Walden’s Creative Musicians Retreat. Through a partnership with Walden in Spring 2011, Marshall was the Artist in Residence at Dublin School, teaching classes in Computer Music and Musicianship and leading the community in morning sound activities. Marshall has a degree in Composition and Piano Performance from Santa Clara University, where he studied with Pam Quist, Pat Plude, and Teresa McCollough and later taught from 2003 to 2008. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in composition at The University of Texas at Austin.
