Biography

Composer of over 100 works, more than half of which are recorded and published. Performances by the Chicago Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and more than 50 other orchestras. Commissions from the Dallas Symphony, the Honolulu Symphony, and performers such as the American Brass Quintet, the Cleveland Quartet, and Jan DeGaetani. Prizes and honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship (1998), Master Artist in Residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Fellowships at the Camargo Foundation (Cassis, France 2010), The Liguria Study Center (Bogliasco, Italy, 2003), the Bellagio Center (1998), and multiple residencies and fellowships at the MacDowell Colony and Yaddo. Founder of the UT New Music Ensemble, and Director of that ensemble for over 30 years.
